Since it’s summer, most dogs tend to spend their time outdoors. Every dog owners must be aware of lyme disease by avoiding ticks.
The danger starts when the ticks are on your dog’s body and bites. Surprisingly, your dog will not feel the bite - it is painless. However, the area of the bite may become infected.
If your dog becomes ill from the tick’s bite, the chance of spreading the infection through your dog’s saliva is highly possible. Your dog will eventually suffer from lyme disease. Consult your vet immediately.
For all dog owners, be cautious when walking your dog outdoors especially in wooded areas/parks. After walks, immediately check your dog for ticks. Normally, you can find ticks in the ears, under arms, between toes/paws, and folds of the skin. If you are unaware on how to remove ticks and what to do next, call your vet immediately.
