November 1-7 2009 is National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week. This campaign was launched by Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) in 1996. It was designed to acknowledge and promote the invaluable role shelter houses play in their communities. It also encourages and increases public awareness of animal welfare issues and shelter services. There are many ways you can support this campaign such as volunteering and donating your time and pet goods in your local shelters.
