Halloween Safety For Your Dog

Halloween is a fun time.
It can be a frightening for children and to your family dog.
Keep them both safe on Halloween. Here are some ways you can protect your dog.

  • Test, acclimate and prepare your dog for fun goolish costumes, door bells, and noise.
  • Use a leash especially for excitable dogs, preventing them from running out  to chase the fun goolish friends.
  • Just in case, make sure your dog wears a collar with "identification."
  • If you see that acclimating your dog becomes a challenge place your dog in a crate or quite safe area in your home with a favorite toy. Visit your dog and provide yummy treats from time to time.
  • Keep halloween sweets out of paw reach. Chocolates are hazardous to your dog's health. Make sure to communicate with your family members so they understand candies/chocolates are harmful for your dogs.

What You Should Consider Before Dressing Your Dog

Dressing your dog may be FUN.

However, there are things to consider before purchasing clothing, any cute attire or costume for your dog.

  1. It is very important to find the proper fit for your dog clothes. Too tight or small clothing can restrict your dog’s movement, breathing, and circulation. On the other hand, too big or loose clothing can also be hazardous. It can be fraught with danger on your dog’s movements ( i.e. walking or running).
  2. It is no doubt that dog owners dress their dog just for FUN. However, it is always good to keep in mind - Why it is necessary for your dog to wear certain clothing. A ‘sweater’ is reasonable for your pet to wear especially if you live in cold cities and your dog needs extra protection and comfort. A “costume” is unavoidable for special events particularly Halloween. A majority of owners love to dress up their dogs in speciality costumes. This is a fun and special holiday event for both pet owners and dogs.
  3. Be aware of potential hazardous materials in selecting clothing for your dog. Sewn in buttons or crystals could potentially be snapped off/pulled and accidentally swallowed by your dog. There are fabrics that can cause discomfort to your dog. Make sure to select the appropriate clothing materials.
  4. Never leave your dog unattended. Don’t take the any chances. As dog owners always take precautions.
